The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

One day I was talking to about race with my boyfriend Tony.  We were talking about race and what were his views were.  I asked what was his thoughts if my son dated a black girl.  I was so shocked with his comments.  He told me that the girl would never be allowed in his home and that if they had children he would never consider the child family.  I was so sick by the words I just heard.  His family also agreed with him.  I thought they were a family that was ignorant and a complete racist.  I decided that day that this was a relationship that I did not want to be in anymore.  I told them I did not understand why color mattered to him and why he hated black people so much.  He was very rude to me and called me some really bad names.  I do not think I could of changed his views but I am glad I got to see his true colors.
